Roy Romer (born October 31, 1928) is an American Democratic politician who served as the 39th Governor of Colorado from 1991 to 1999. He focused on education reform and economic development during his tenure. Before becoming governor, he served as a state senator and state treasurer. After leaving office, he briefly served as interim superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Romer is known for his pragmatic, bipartisan approach and is considered a representative of moderate Western Democrats.
