Otto Schily is a German politician who served as the Federal Minister of Justice and the Federal Minister of Transport. He joined the Social Democratic Party in the 1970s and served as the Minister of Justice in North Rhine-Westphalia in the 1980s. His political career on the federal level began in 1998 when he became the Federal Minister of Justice, and he was appointed as the Federal Minister of Transport in 2002.
