“A various set of symptoms which are all part of the human condition.”

“I love the wind and how hard it can exhale. I love the noise it creates, and the lack of other noises I can hear when it blows.”

“I walk past these white walls back to my room. The windows down the hallway shine their light and make rectangles on the floor. They angle themselves to the sun, so we never lose track of where the light comes in.”
“I don’t think you can actually do anything without emotion.”

“Cook not to impress, but to restore.”
“The best use of time is to enjoy it, as I do when working in peaceful silence. I am surprised that anyone with a love for growing things will take up with artificial contrivances that come between him and nature, which break the spell woven by all the delicate garden influences, the songs of birds and insects, the sound of rustling leaves, the smell of freshly turned soil, the direct contact with the earth. What is he in the garden for?”

“On my thirtieth birthday, Asami gave me the Sailor Moon toy I had secretly wanted as a child. It was the same one she herself had played with as a little girl, and though it's missing its battery cover, I'm sure I would have lost that little piece sooner or later anyway. At last, Santa's Christmas present has made it to me- through a messenger, and twenty-four years late. I keep it in the display case at my house as proof that sometimes wishes come true if you choose to believe.”

“Trauma is a thief. It steals our childhoods, years of our adult lives, or even
our entire lifetimes. It takes away our ability to feel connected to others, to
feel like we belong in the world, and to receive and extend love. It prevents
us from growing and thriving. It steals our relationships, work, physical
health, families, communities, spirituality, hobbies, passions, and identity.
And to add insult to injury, trauma then demands that we grieve these losses
in order to heal from them, which can feel overwhelming.”

“Beneath every protective behavior is a feeling (emotion) of the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn.
And beneath each feeling (emotion) of the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn is a need to be safe.
When we meet that need of safety rather than focus on the protective behavior that does not protect, we begin to deal with the cause and not the symptom.”
“PTSD may be a Russian roulette game, and I may be hoping for the bullet to enter my head. If I'm lucky, the missed revolver may give me more chances to live longer and stay stronger. Someday, if I am audacious enough, I will send the bullet to my unwanted memories instead of myself.”
