“We know Job's faith survived because his reaction to his devastating loss was to worship God: "Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped. He said, 'Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord'" (Job 1:20-21). Let me encourage you and your messed up man, should he be willing, to begin to worship God from your place of brokenness. Tina shares a dramatic story from her work as a music therapist for hospice. One day, as she prepared to leave the hospice floor at the hospital, a nurse called her back to work with a patient in respiratory arrest. Music therapists use music to match the beat of a patient's heart rate, and as the therapist slows down the beat of music, most of the time the heart rate follows, as well as the breathing. At the start of the process, the patient's wife shouted, "Sing 'Amazing Grace'?" Deciding to minister rather than work, Tina sang "Amazing Grace." The patient's distress was overwhelming. He could hardly take in air, and his chest heaved while his wife wept. Right in the middle of "Amazing Grace," The wife once more blurted out, "Sing 'Jesus Loves Me'!" Tina, switched gears and sang, "Yes, Jesus loves me." Tears streamed down the man's cheeks as he sang with her, "Yes, Jesus loves me." His words were broken and he could hardly say them, but in that moment, he worshiped the God who was about to take him home. Whatever you're facing . . . worship.”

“Away from the goal Far away I stand from my home. A home unknown Where my heart and spirit must go Thy guidance oh Lord Thy guidance oh lord Eternal eternity I beseech that You will lead me to the goal Away from victory far away I stand from victory Victory unknown; thy spirit divine I know that You may lead me where I must go Thy guidance oh Lord Thy guidance oh lord Victorious victory I beseech that You will lead me to a victorious victory Away from the troubles of life far away from the troubles; my delight that You will lead me with thy light Thy light that rekindles my night Thy guidance oh Lord Thy guidance oh lord Far away from the troubles I beseech That You will lead me from the troubles of life with Thy light”

“Oh when our hope be shaken Oh when the trouble be overtaken Oh when the storm be a token Oh when yet, we understand the solemn ways of our Maker Then shall our peace within be awaken Then shall our peace within be awaken Oh when the peace we want, dwindles! Oh when the life we want is found in the shackles! Oh when the paradox of sleeplessness, makes us marvel! Oh when yet, we are shown the solemn path of our lives. Then shall our peace within be unshaken Then shall our peace within be unshaken Oh when the storms of life seem to triumph over our lives Oh when the relation with our maker shakes at the appearance of the light Oh when life, shows its hazardous side. Oh when yet, we understand the solemn ways of God. Then shall our peace within be unshaken Then shall our peace within be unshaken Oh when we rest in the belly of troubles Oh when our skill seems not working Oh when the test seems not ending Oh when yet, we understand the solemn path of God Then shall our peace within be unshaken Then shall our peace within be unshaken Oh when we are entangled in the worsened economic life Oh when the hurdles of life escalates to the apex in might Oh when our strength cannot be our might Oh when yet, we are shown the solemn path of our lives Then shall our peace within be unshaken Then shall our peace within be unshaken Oh when our achievements, be at the apex Oh when our joy, be made perfect Oh when we sleep soundly in fervent Oh when yet, we understand the solemn paths of God Then shall our peace within be unshaken Then shall our peace within be unshaken”

“A Hymn I sang When I Found You (Poem) ****** You opened your arms to me and my eyes to see. You embraced me like your own. In your soul, You covered me with strength. You opened my life with your breath. Your comfort embraces my heart like what paint is to art, and jokes are to comedy, and religion is to a prophecy, and guitars are to music. Importantly, you adorn me as artists do to the muse. You swallowed me with your mind. Sewn my broken pieces back into one, and loved me throughout your research. Like what members are to the church, and grapes are to wine, and mud is to a swine. I was lost, Now, I'm perfectly found at most. In your love, I'm pulled. Complete and full without a piece amiss. I'm washed with plenty a kiss. A perfect melody! Long gone are the days of melancholy. Because no strange songs are sung. You pierce into me like the sun and comfort me like charms. Mostly, you sing me a lullaby in your arms.”

“Cult Of The Elements Chorus by Stewart Stafford The breeze began as hymns, Spreading through the forest, Slowly tipping, creaking limbs, A cult of the elements chorus. As bobbing boats at a marina, Invisible Hâ‚‚O, dialled up to seven, a domino effect, calmly serene, Swaying arms, raised to Heaven. Whistling through the branches, Trees rocked forward, fell, then, came with uneasy, silent chances, Until the zephyr whispered again. © Stewart Stafford, 2023. All rights reserved.”

“A heart of diligence to my Master A hand of diligence to my Maker A mind of diligence to do what matter My savior Jesus is watching My savior Jesus is seeking For a life that upholds diligence Steps in diligence I must take Deeds in diligence I must do To please my master with works in diligence My savior Jesus is watching My savior Jesus is seeking For a life that will give account in diligence Steadfastness and diligence I must pursue In a world full of deceptions which hinder salvation My heart and my lips must be for my Master My savior Jesus is watching My savior Jesus is seeking For a heart and a tongue that shall please Him to the very end”

“Many secular observers and spiritual practitioners alike mistake mystical chanting as a kind of anthropological curiosity or interesting musical diversion from secular mainstream entertainment, sometimes labeling it 'world' or 'folk' music. But uttering or chanting spells, mantras or prayers shouldn't be regarded as a romantic excursion to a distant past, or faraway place, or as an escape from our everyday stresses, for relaxation or entertainment. These sounds are meant to be experienced as the timeless unity of energy currents. The chanting of ancient esoteric sounds enables us to realize we are never separate from the one continuously existing omnipresent vibration of the cosmos.”

“Your peace you gave us Your heart divine, Your blood was spilled What a mighty prize. Grant us now Thy tender mercy, Your peace surrounds us now. Let every heart, tongue and nation, Before you Jesus, bow. Peace peace, You brought us peace Let us dwell at Your table, On what You provide we feast Take our hand in this brokenness Hold us gently oh Lord We pray and ask you for Your presence Lead us through this wilderness.”

“In our whole life melody the music is broken off here and there by rests, and we foolishly think we have come to the end of time. God sends a time of forced leisure, a time of sickness and disappointed plans, and makes a sudden pause in the hymns of our lives, and we lament that our voice must be silent and our part missing in the music which ever goes up to the ear of our Creator. Not without design does God write the music of our lives. Be it ours to learn the time and not be dismayed at the rests. If we look up, God will beat the time for us.”

“Your national greatness, swelling vanity; your denunciation of tyrants, brass-fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, are, to Him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy-a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages.”

“TEDIUM, n. Ennui, the state or condition of one that is bored. Many fanciful derivations of the word have been affirmed, but so high an authority as Father Jape says that it comes from a very obvious source --the first words of the ancient Latin hymn _Te Deum Laudamus_. In this apparently natural derivation there is something that saddens.”

“There are two kinds of music. One comes from the strings of a guitar, the other from the strings of the heart. One sound comes from a chamber orchestra, the other from the beating of the heart's chamber. One comes from an instrument of graphite and wood, the other from an organ of flesh and blood. This loftier music I speak of tonight is more pleasing than the notes of the most gifted composers, more moving than a marching band, more harmonious than a thousand voices joined in hymn and more powerful than all the world's percussion instruments combined. That sweet sound of love.”

“A slave's soul has no worth, my brothers; it lacks strength to tread on this great earth with gallantry and freedom. I pity the poor slaves, they're nought but airy mist, a light breeze scatters them, a fragrance knocks them down; it's only just they crawl on the earth on hands and knees. Today I'll write a hymn to God and pray for this great grace.”

“The faith in which I was brought up assured me that I was better than other people; I was saved, they were damned.... Our hymns were loaded with arrogance - self-congratulation on how cozy we were with the Almighty and what a high opinion he had of us, what hell everybody else would catch come Judgment Day.”

“The nation, like the church, has its visible symbols and insignia, its parchments engrossed with the revealed word, its dogmas, hymns, liturgy, holy day celebrations, its early Fathers, prophets and martyrs, its priesthood and its lay sodality, its myths of sacred genesis and apocalyptic crises, its world-saving mission and its missionaries.”

“The song Of Heaven is ever new; for daily thus, And nightly, new discoveries are made Of God's unbounded wisdom, power, and love, Which give the understanding larger room, And swell the hymn with ever-growing praise.”

“When children ask you questions about gray hairs, and wrinkles in the face, and sighs that have no words, and smiles too bright to be carved upon the radiant face by the hands of hypocrisy--when they ask you about kneeling at the altar, speaking into the vacant air, and uttering words to an unseen and in an invisible Presence--when they interrogate you about your great psalms, and hymns, and anthem-bursts of thankfulness, what is your reply to these? Do not be ashamed of the history. Keep steadily along the line of fact. Say what happened to you, and magnify God in the hearing of the inquirer.”
