Politicians Quotes

“In South Africa, we have more political parties than we have in our social crisis. Yet none of our problems are being resolved. It is because none of these people are leadership material. Different views to them mean enemies & Different opinion means betrayal. One disagreement they go and open their own party. They only want positions they don’t want to serve people. They can’t resolve conflicts, without hating, holding grudges, and pointing fingers. Its leaders without vision, goals, and policies. They just follow rumors, and their own agenda, pushing propaganda and conspiracy theories. They cause division and separation within the party, and they don’t believe in unity, because they don’t want to share power.”

“Every politician I talk to seems to say the same thing: "Now is not the time to point fingers." Spin doctors even come up with the term blame game. "I'm not going to play the blame game," they say, dismissing you when you ask for answers, for the names of officials who made key decisions. I notice that some reporters start using the term too. I can't understand why. Demanding accountability is no game, and there's nothing wrong with trying to understand who made mistakes, who failed. If no one is held accountable for their decisions, for their actions, all of this will happen again. Not one person has yet to stand up and admit wrongdoing. No politician, no bureaucrat, has admitted a specific mistake. Some have made blanket statements, saying they accept responsibility for whatever went wrong. But that's not good enough. We need to know specifics. What was done wrong? What were the mistakes? I ask any official I can. No one will answer. The only "mistakes" they admit to are actually veiled criticisms of others. The mayor should have declared a mandatory evacuation on Saturday, instead of waiting until Sunday. Precious hours were lost. The governor could have done that as well, but didn't. They could have moved hundreds of city buses and local school buses to higher ground and used them to evacuate the nearly one hundred thousand residents who had no access to private transportation. They didn't. There were plenty of mistakes to go around. I just want someone to admit to them.”

“Liars are highly unlikely to admit their lies, never mind apologize for the hurt they’ve caused. Liars don’t genuinely apologize. Deceit has become their full-out lifestyle. They are centered on themselves with no thoughts of the consequences of their lies. In cowardly style, they tell more lies to try and cover their tracks. They are not good at admitting they actually have shortcomings.”

“It is not a single crime when a child is photographed while sexually assaulted (raped.) It is a life time crime that should have life time punishments attached to it. If the surviving child is, more often than not, going to suffer for life for the crime(s) committed against them, shouldn't the pedophiles suffer just as long? If it often takes decades for survivors to come to terms with exactly how much damage was caused to them, why are there time limits for prosecution?”

“The story of my birth that my mother told me went like this: "When you were coming out I wasn't ready yet and neither was the nurse. The nurse tried to push you back in, but I shit on the table and when you came out, you landed in my shit." If there ever was a way to sum things up, the story of my birth was it.”

“John was still making comments regarding violent things that he shouldn't, but I hoped he was just being a big mouth. Nobody was going to listen to me anyway.”

“Sixth grade, I remembermy best friend Wendy whose parents were fighting, harshly, loudly, and we sat on the curb outside so she wouldn't have to hear it, and she cried, believing her world was falling apart. I made up a kind-of game: to everything she would say, I would respond "Is that a fact or an opinion?" and she had to figure it out and say it outloud-- we played it for hours, ending up laughing but she also began to separate what was actually happening inside the house from her feelings about it and her fears. I feel like I'm still playing "Fact or Opinion" in my writing, in the world-- with family, friends, and, of course, myself. Wish I could play it with our governmental representatives, our institutions, our courts.”

“The sincere seeker of truth has to learn to surpass the whole idea of war. The seeker of truth has to learn love and compassion. He has to be a lover, not a warrior. The whole human history has been lived according to the idea rooted in war, violence, hate, anger and destructiveness. And during the whole human history the warrior has been worshipped as a hero. It is time to change this whole idea, because the world needs lovers, not warriors. The world no longer needs destructive weapons. The world no longer needs cunning, violent, unconscious and destructive people. The world needs people who can trust, and even if the conditions are not in favor of trusting, they are still not ready to drop their trust. The we can create a new humanity, then we can create a new earth. We can create a paradise. We do not need to wait for heaven, the paradise, after death. When you have failed in life, you are not going to succeed after death. If you succeed in life, you will succeed after death too. Only the body dies, but you remain the same, Your consciousness never dies. And if the idea of war disappears with that will also politicians, nations, religions, races and all kinds of stupidities disappear. The earth is one, and it needs to be one. We have made the earth divided, so that we create war. We are dividing humanity to fight. We cannot live without war, fight and destructivity, because it has become our way of life. It has become a negative and destructive program in our mind. For thousands of year, we have been programmed for war, fight and destructivity. It is time for de-programming. The seeker of truth has to learn d-programming. Then he can be free to live according to his own love, light, joy, truth, freedom and creativity.”

“There is more for us to gain through love than hate.”

“Several centuries ago the greatest writer in history described the two most menacing clouds that hang over human government and human society as "malice domestic and fierce foreign war." We are not rid of these dangers but we can summon our intelligence to meet them. Never was there more genuine reason for Americans to face down these two causes of fear. "Malice domestic" from time to time will come to you in the shape of those who would raise false issues, pervert facts, preach the gospel of hate, and minimize the importance of public action to secure human rights or spiritual ideals. There are those today who would sow these seeds, but your answer to them is in the possession of the plain facts of our present condition.”

“Love has disappeared from the world. Society is deep down against love. Society has created substitutes for love for for example marriage. These are substitutes for love, so that you do not begin to search for real love, which is not ordinarily available unless you raise your level of consciousness. Love is not an exclusive relationship, Love is the ultimate flowering of our consciousness. God has also disappeared from the world, because love has disappeared from the world. One cannot connect with God through the head or through beliefs. You can only connect with God through the heart. The society pretends to be religious, but it is only a facade. The religion that exists is just a formality, a belief. Real religion is something else, but the moment you re really religious the society will be against you, because it is a danger to society, to the politicians,  to the church and to the vested interests, who are oppressing and exploiting people. We have to change the milieu that exists on earth today. We have to create a milieu of love in the world. Love unconditionally, love for the sheer joy of loving, not for receiving  anything back. Love and you will see that a door has opened and God has entered into your life.”

“In advanced societies it is not the race politicians or the "rights" leaders who create the new ideas and the new images of life and man. That role belongs to the artists and intellectuals of each generation. Let the race politicians, if they will, create political, economic or organizational forms of leadership; but it is the artists and the creative minds who will, and must, furnish the all important content. And in this role, they must not be subordinated to the whims and desires of politicians, race leaders and civil rights entrepreneurs whether they come from the Left, Right, or Center, or whether they are peaceful, reform, violent, non-violent or laissez-faire. Which means to say, in advanced societies the cultural front is a special one that requires special techniques not perceived, understood, or appreciated by political philistines.”

“Shame on the misguided, the blinded, the distracted and the divided. Shame. You have allowed deceptive men to corrupt and desensitize your hearts and minds to unethically fuel their greed.”
