Satsang Quotes

“When you deeply love someone from that space that is beyond attachment to certain projections or desires, when you love someone just deeply, totally, completely, without any games that the mind or emotions play, then that love remains eternal in the heavens forever, and that is what pulls you back to remembering that love.”

“The Divine has created this moment in time. It is a very powerful moment, where there is only one way and that way is that you completely let go. Completely let go of what is known, what is safe, and move into the space of beauty.”

“Where ego comes in, loving kindness departs. So wherever there is ego, there is very little space for true bliss and true happiness because true bliss and true happiness isn't exclusive to the attachments the ego enjoys playing with, but rather a free state of mind that is part of loving kindness and its activities inside and outside of oneself.”

“Remember meditation is an active, deep remembrance, and that is discernment. Wherever you go, wherever you are, whatever you're doing, remember to utilize discernment so that you can hear and sense and feel the vibration of love rather than the vibration of illusion.”

“Satsang is an initiation into the space where one starts belonging to God, the divine. Satsang is an initiation into the space where one no more thinks of oneself in egoistic terms, but where one starts thinking in terms of the whole. When you start feeling yourself in harmony with the whole great joy arises in your heart. Harmony with the whole is joy and disharmony with the whole is misery and separation. Whenever we a attuned to the whole suddenly the clouds on the sky disappear, and all is sunshine. Suddenly the flowers start blooming in your heart, and you are full of the fragrance of the unknown, of the beyond. But it happens only in the moment when you are in harmony with the whole. And everybody knows these moments once in a while. It happens accidentally: watching a sunrise. listening to beautiful music, in love, out in nature or for no reason at all. - and you fall into a subtle harmony. Something inside you becomes silent and quiet. The beauty of the sunset or the music may overwhelm you, so that you for a moment forget that you are separate from life. And then you feel great joy, beauty and silence. Satsang means to learn the art of creating situations, where it starts happening more and more consciously. It is to learn the art of creating the right conscious space for it happens, so that one day it happens but never leaves you again. This is the day of enlightenment, and one becomes a Buddha or a Christ. That is the day of harmony, when it has become so ingrained in you, so that now there is no possibility of separation from life.”

“The first time that Padma, Giten's beloved friend for many lives, attended satsang with Giten, she did not really know how deep the satsang was going. After the satsang she exclaimed astonished: "Did you feel the timelessness, the eternal?" She had gone so deep that it is possible in the inner being, which is the dimension of the timeless, of the eternal. Padma described her experience of satsang with Giten: “I love satsang with Giten. Satsang with Giten is heaven. Satsang with Giten is like coming home. I went into samadhi three times during a satsang weekend with Giten - and I also got a map and an understanding for how to go into samadhi again. I was so scared that I would lose the stillness that I found in satsang in India, but I found the stillness again in satsang with Giten. Previously, I did not think that enlightenment was possible, but now I think it is possible.” The essence of satsang is meditation. Meditation is the art of discovering the light within. Meditation is the art of discovering your own soul. It is only through meditation that we can discover the light within. Otherwise man lives in darkness. Meditation enkindles something that is already latent in all of us, but which needs to be discovered. Normally we are only looking outwards. We never look within ourselves, so our back is turned at our inner source of light. It is being ignored and neglected, and the only ignorance is to ignore our inner being, our source of light within. To know the inner being is the only knowledge. All other knowledge is worthless. It may help you in the world, but it can't help you in eternity. Life is such a small and fast disappearing phenomenon. The real life is something totally different. Seventy or eighty years are nothing compared to eternity. To pay too much attention to this life, and ignoring the inner life is just stupid. But that is what the majority of people are doing, which is why the world is full of stupidity, darkness, ignorance, violence, unconsciousness, misery and suffering. The moment we turn our attention within ourselves, it enkindles a light within. Turning our attention within enkindles a light inside, which knows no end. Once it is enkindled, it starts to spread. First it fills you, then it starts spreading outside you, and ultimately it fills the whole universe. Those who attains to that state, where the inner light becomes as vast as the universe has become an enlightened one, an awakened one, a Buddha, a Christ.”

“There are two ways by which one will realize the life’s goal. If we have not met a Gnani Purush, then we should live life in such a way, that we hurt no one. Our highest goal should be to not hurt any living being in the slightest. The other way is if you encounter the Gnani Purush, then you should remain in the Gnani’s satsang. In doing so, all your work will be accomplished. All the 'puzzles' will be solved.”

“What is this satsang (in Akram) like? Here, there are no such botherations of, 'do this', 'do good', 'do that', 'ask for forgiveness', 'do introspection', 'do chanting', 'do penance'. Here, One does not have to 'do' anything. Here, One just needs to Know and to understand. The right belief of 'I am pure Soul' (Samkit) can be attained only through understanding and Knowledge of the Self (Gnan) arises through Knowing. And the One who has Known and understood, He can have the right Conduct as the Self (samyak Charitra).”

“There's really no reason to come to satsang at all, unless you have an open heart! If you came to satsang with an open heart, Reality will be yours. Not my reality or your reality, but Reality, the Reality, what people call the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God. You are already That, but you have so many concepts you cover it up. You have so many feelings and dogmas and attitudes that you cover up the Godliness. So you have to open your heart and let your reality shine through. How do you do this? By keeping silent, by not being judgmental, by leaving the world alone. There will always be something in this world to correct, either in yourself or in your family or in the world or people. You have learned from experience that you cannot do this. The correction is always made within yourself. It is yourself with a small "s" that sees the problem. But if you try to resolve the problem outside of you, it will never be resolved. It's resolving yourself, knowing the Truth, understanding who you are, that brings you peace and realization. (p. 3-4)”

“Each contact is an opportunity for your own unique satsang with your Self, not in some strained or contrived way, but by keeping your mind inside your Heart, by trusting the inner guru and by recognizing each moment as perfect in itself and by simply being your Self. This is the true and natural responsibility or rather 'response-ability', the ability to respond effortlessly to the needs of the moment.”

“It should be for satsang that we go to spiritual centers. By going there, people who are involved in the world can attain peace and concentration. The concentration gained when one goes there cannot be achieved if one sits at home. Even though the breeze blows everywhere, coolness will be felt more if we sit in the shade of a tree. In the same way, although God is all-pervading, this presence will clearly shine in certain places more than others. That is the greatness of satsang. Satsang is the best thing for spiritual advancement.”

“The satsang is - within the mass culture - like little mushrooms here and there, and somebody, maybe a Christian and a Hindu and a Buddhist, come together; doesn't matter, because those are paths. They're paths to the One. But those satsangs are what the world needs. And as I say - heart to heart - that's what satsang is.”

“Renovating temples does not mean building great gate towers or receptacles for offerings. What we should focus on is the regular conduct of worship according to tradition, regular satsang, devotional singing, and so forth. Our devotion and faith give life to temples, not rituals and ceremonies. Children, we should remember this when we are involved in temple matters.”

“No matter who causes you grief, take your complaints to the meditation room, where your real friend is. In addition to your husband or wife, you should have a friend - and that friend should be God. Even if your husband or wife makes you unhappy, tell that to God, and not to anyone else. If your neighbor picks a fight with you, go to the meditation room and complain, 'Why did you let him treat me like that? Weren't you with me?' Open your heart and tell God everything. Then it becomes a satsang.”
