Enlightened One Quotes

“The Upanishads have minutely classified every stage of spiritual advancement: - Jivanmukta ("freed while living") - a siddha ("perfected being") has progressed from the state of jivanmukta ("freed while living") to that of: - a paramukta ("supremely free" - full power over death); the latter has completely escaped from the mayic thralldom and its reincarnational round. The paramukta therefore seldom returns to a physical body; if he does return, he is: - an avatar, a divinely appointed medium of supernal blessings on the world. An avatar is unsubject to the universal economy; his pure body, visible as a light image, is free from any debt to Nature. The casual gaze may see nothing extraordinary in an avatar's form; but, on occasion, it casts no shadow nor make any footprint on the ground. These are outward symbolic proofs of an inward freedom from darkness and material bondage. [...] Krishna, Rama, Buddha and Patanjali were among the ancient Indian avatars. [...] Agastya, a South Indian avatar. - Mahavatar (Great Avatar) - Babaji's mission in India has been to assist prophets in carrying out their special dispensations. He thus qualifies for the scriptural classification of Mahavatar (Great Avatar). [...] Babaji is ever in communion with Christ; together they send out vibrations of redemption and have planned the spiritual technique of salvation for this age. The work of these two fully illumined masters is to inspire the nations to forsake wars, race, hatreds, religious sectarianism, and the boomerang evils of materialism.[...] Only one reason motivates Babaji in maintaining his physical form from century to century: the desire to furnish humanity wit ha concrete example of its own possibilities. Were man never vouchsafed a glumpse of Divinity in the flesh, he would remain oppressed by the heavy mayic delusion that he cannot transcend his mortality. - pg305-310, Chapter 33, Babaji, Yogi-Christ of Modern India”

“There is only this much difference between a Gnani (the one who is Self-realized) and an agnani (one without Self-realization). The Gnani is constantly in the natural state of the Self (Swa-parinati) and the agnani cannot remain in the natural state of the Self even for a moment. There is no other difference. The Gnani does not have any horns, He wears clothes too; the only difference is in the parinaam (result; internal state of being)!”

“Dehadhyas (the belief that ‘I am the body’) does not leave without [the grace of] the Gnani Purush (the Self-realized One, who can help others realize the Self). The Gnani Purush is vitaraag (one who is free from all attachment). He constantly remains in Swa-parinati (the natural state of the Self). The Gnani Purush does not remain [engrossed] in the body, mind, intellect or ego. That is why only the Gnani Purush can free us from our belief that 'I am the body.”

“The moment the link between the meditator (dhyata) and the object of meditation (dhyeya) is connected, it is known as meditation (dhyan). When the link breaks, the meditation breaks. Meditating upon the living Gnani Purush (enlightened One) is known as visualization (nididhyasan) while meditating upon an idol (murti) is concentration!”

“The foundation of this world is indeed knowledge (gnan). It is on the basis of knowledge that living beings function! Is it Knowledge (Gnan) or ignorance (aGnan)? Ignorance too is knowledge indeed. It is the Gnani (the enlightened one) who has differentiated between the two. Otherwise, whatever knowledge a living being has, it simply functions according to that knowledge. Therefore, it is indeed knowledge that runs this world.”

“When can one really say that pudgal (non-Self complex of input and output) is the doer? It is after one attains Self-realization. Otherwise, he would go in the wrong direction. After attaining Self-realization, as one prevails in the Gnani's Agna (five directives that preserve the awareness as the Self in Akram Vignan), only after that is the pudgal considered as the doer of everything, and only then can it be considered that You [as the Self] are not liable. If one were to say this [the pudgal is the doer] without that [Self-realization and prevailing in the Gnani's Agna] then everyone would go on the wrong path.”

“The original element is considered as that which remains completely unaffected. The eternal elements are permanent (sanatan), indestructible (avinashi). When the indestructible, permanent [elements] come into contact (sansarg) with each other, an extra result (vishesh parinaam) arises. The Gnani Purush breaks the contact/link between the eternal elements, so the eternal elements comes back into their elemental form.”

“Every human being needs security. The one, who does not have security, will be in fear. So he will look for security outside if he does not get it at home. The Gnani Purush [the enlightened one] is the only one who does not need any security. The Gnani is considered to be free from all dependency (niralamb). Others will take support from Him, but He will not take any support. Only the Gnani Purush can remain free from dependency in this world.”

“Intelligence is the icing, but wisdom is the cake.”

“Our reward for surviving the hard knocks of a corporal life is arguably paltry. The inevitability of the big sleep is our final reward for laying it all on the line each day that we still breathe. A person whom elects to transform him or herself does so because they believe that life is worthwhile. If a troubled person mints a newly reconstituted persona, it might enable them serenely to accept everything life calls for, even struggle, loss, defeat, disintegration, and death.”

“What is scripture? It is in the form of words. As the meanings of those words become clear (are clarified), they become shabdaarth (literal meaning of a word). Then the meaning of the word progress further. As the meaning is clarified further, it reaches parmartha (ultimate meaning). The vision reaches to that level. However, the scriptures cannot change the vision. A ‘Gnani Purush’ [the enlightened one] is needed to change the vision. It is ‘this’ very vision (unchanged vision) that has created the worldly life. The Gnani [the enlightened one] does ‘drashti-bhed’ [gives the vision of what is real and what is relative].”

“When you do devotional viewing (darshan) of God, do it with (pure) intent. When you make the effort to go and do darshan, but you do not do it with the proper intent, then it is in vain. Therefore, do darshan in this way, 'Dear God! The one residing within me is verily You. You are vitaraag (one free from all attachment and abhorrence). I am bowing down to you.' If you do darshan in this way, then God has no choice but to answer the 'phone-call'. If He does not answer, then that is His responsibility. Hence, when a real 'phone-call' comes in, then God will answer it immediately.”
