“Metaphysical truth is scandalous; that is, it violates all the accepted modes of perception, all the ordinary, epistemologically neutral expectations of the sleeping soul. It tears open a curtain and reveals the occult; it unveils a beauty which is "forbidden" only because we ignore it in our stupor.”

“Metaphysical world.- It is true, there could be a metaphysical world; the absolute possibility of it is hardly to be disputed. “Metaphysics... is nothing but the inventory of all we possess through pure reason, ordered systematically. Nothing here can escape us, because what reason brings forth entirely out of itself cannot be hidden, but is brought to light by reason itself as soon as reason's common principle has been discovered. The perfect unity of this kind of cognition, and the fact that it arises solely out of pure concepts without any influence that would extend or increase it from experience or even particular intuition, which would lead to a determinate experience, make this unconditioned completeness not only feasible but also necessary. Tecum habita, et noris quam sit tibi curta supellex. Dwell in your own house, and you will know how simple your possessions are. - Persius”

“Metaphysics is the study of the most general nature and basic structure of reality, and therefore the concepts of metaphysics, concepts like time, space, identity, resemblance, substance, property, fact, event, composition, possibility, etc., are the most fundamental concepts. Thus metaphysics is the most fundamental theoretical discipline.”

“Metaphysics means nothing but an unusually obstinate effort to think clearly. The fundamental conceptions of psychology are practically very clear to us, but theoretically they are very confused, and one easily makes the obscurest assumptions in this science without realizing, until challenged, what internal difficulties they involve.”

“Metaruptions acknowledge the absence of answers to these questions, aiding in the distinction between explicit drivers of disruption and the intricate, emergent nature of their unpredictable interactions. Metaruptions defy rulebooks. We must envision the questions to be asked - and delve into the questions behind the questions. Metaruptions require adaptive problem finding and resilient solutions amidst incomprehensibility. The current decade will bring unparalleled messiness together with its opportunities. Learning to speak the language of metaruptions means staying engaged as paradigms shift to unravel these possibilities.”

“Metaruptions are constantly evolving. The signals provide feedback loops that help appreciate how dynamic futures may take shape. However, we need to pay careful attention to compounding forces, which could spill over into irreversible tipping points.
To comprehend disruption, we need to decipher its fundamental drivers, forces, and influences. Identifying these drivers, and their synthesis as metaruptions, can inform decision-making.”

“Metaruptions cause widespread, self-perpetuating effects that extend beyond their initial disruptions. As early changes spill over, impacts combine, propagate, and modify other elements within the system. Imagining the interplay of metaruptions is a creative endeavour, not a number-crunching exercise.”

“Metaruptions drive systemic disruption: The term metaruptions is an abbreviation of disruption with the prefix “meta.” A metaruption is a multidimensional family of systemic disruptions, including shifts in the notion of disruption itself. Metaruptions are characterized by the dynamic interactions of subordinate drivers of change. Metaruptions cause widespread and self-perpetuating effects that extend beyond their initial disruptions. As initial changes spill over, these impacts combine to propagate and modify other elements within the system, ultimately disrupting the disruption itself.”

“Meteorites are not just in the sky; get down on the subway of a city, and you will find people who do not know what they are doing, scattering around in space just like meteorites!”

“Meteorologists agree that our planet is heating up! Now I know that many people disagree with this or just think that it is part of a natural cycle. It doesn’t really matter what we think, because the Earth’s climate will do what it is doing with or without our influence. As part of my profession, I took classes related to the weather and I would just like to share some of my thoughts on this important topic.
First, if I know something is heading in the wrong direction, I’ll try to do something about it and if I’m partially to blame, I’ll try a little harder! For years we have been putting carbon up into the atmosphere and now the chickens are coming home to roost! It doesn’t matter what we think about this, however here in Florida the hurricanes have been becoming more violent… as we saw last summer! Statistically the high tides have been just a little higher with each passing year. In fact the average tides have been going up by an inch for every 10 years. That’s an inch per decade! In the Miami area the water has been coming up through the sewer pipes with fish swimming in the streets and here in the Tampa Bay area the streets are flooding, like in the Venetian Isles neighborhood of St. Petersburg, where flooding has been happening about 70 time per year. Can you imagine being flooded out 70 times per year?”
“Meteorologists have the right perspective. They ground themselves in the current conditions (today’s highs/lows). They briefly acknowledge significant events of the past (record temps). And they keep an eye on the future (five-day forecast). Honor your past accomplishments, live in the present moment, and look to the future.”
“Meteorologists seem to be better at forecasting the weather (at least in the short term) than we are at forecasting our own mood in the future.”
