“Must the Christian go around looking for a cross to bear, seeking to suffer? No, insisted Bonhoeffer. “Must we do not know all the good that a simple smile can do”
“Must we forsake the love of excellence, then, till every citizen feels it alike? I did not fight, Anytos, to be crowned where I have not run; but for a City where I can know who my equals really are, and my betters, to do them honour; where a man’s daily life is his own business; and where no one will force a lie on me because it is expedient, or some other man’s will.” The words seemed, as I spoke, to be my own thoughts that I owed to no one, only to some memory in my soul; but when I looked beyond the Stadium, to where they were kindling the lights on the High City in the falling dark, I saw the lamps of Samos shine through a doorway, and the wine-cup standing on the table of scoured wood. Then the pain of loss leaped out on me, like a knife in the night when one has been on one’s guard all day. The world grew hollow, a place of shadows; yet none would hold out the cup of Lethe to let me drink.”

“Must we relearn everything you were ever taught about biology and history? Clownfish are the answer. Intersex people are cited to prove that you can change sex. But you know that your child isn’t a clownfish and is not intersex. You learn that your child was “assigned” a sex at birth. The nurses and doctors just decided for reasons unknown and possibly nefarious, what gender your child was. The DNA tests and ultrasounds are wrong as well, as science no longer exists. You learn there are forty-seven genders and that genders can change all the time. Sex is dead. It has no meaning and is just used as an excuse to discriminate against trans people and all the other-gendered people. You soon discover that yes, even the Holocaust was the source of suffering for no, not the Jewish people, but primarily transgender people. And of course, you are probably a Nazi yourself if you think differently. Historical figures, mostly women, it seems, are also now being reclaimed with their rightful trans identity. Joan of Arc and Louisa May Alcott were not feminist heroes but trans men. Trans women are literally women, you learn. That’s it. A fact. Women now have penises. Women are now committing rape and murder at higher rates than ever recorded throughout history. Trans women are also miraculously better at sports than natal women for reasons no one can discern. When competing against women, now known as uterus havers, trans women win all the competitions and titles. Any “cis” women objecting to this are just sore losers. “Cis” is the new label you must go by if you don’t despise the body you were born with and want to alter it. You are told this is a great privilege to be “cis” and that trans women suffer much more than any cis woman ever could or ever will, no matter what has happened to you as a “cis” woman. You go underground. You join groups that vet members. Here you can speak freely because all members know what you are going through and share your horror of the gender party.”

“Must we think of the spirit as something divine that comes from without, that makes us divine? No, it is not that, to me it seems it is not that. The divine is in us, in our own intrinsic humanity, like a diamond in a mine. (La Corriente Infinita)”

“Must you go? I was rather hoping you'd stay and be a ministering angel, but if you must go, you must." "I'll stay," Will said a bit crossly, and threw himself down in the armchair Tessa had just vacated. "I can minister angelically." "None too convincingly. And you're not as pretty to look at as Tessa is," Jem said, closing his eyes as he leaned back against the pillow. "How rude. Many who have gazed upon me have compared the experience to gazing at the radiance of the sun." Jem still had his eyes closed. "If they mean it gives you a headache, they aren't wrong.”
“Must you know that yours will be the “better” picture before you pick up the brush and paint? Can it not simply be another picture? Another expression of beauty? “Must you write complete sentences each time, every time? Perish the thought. If your work consists only of fragments and floating clauses, the Grammar Police aren't going to come and take you away. Even William Strunk, that Mussolini of rhetoric, recognized the delicious pliability of language. "It is an old observation," he writes, "that the best writers sometimes disregard the rules of rhetoric." Yet he goes on to add this thought, which I urge you to consider: "Unless he is certain of doing well, [the writer] will probably do best to follow the rules."”

Sad Winter now declines,

That Fortune us assigns.”
“Mustafa Kemal Atatürk died at 9:05 on November 10, 1938, 83 years ago. His greatest achievement is the modern Turks he created! And who are modern Turks? “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, "orduları dağıtılmış, silahları elinden alınmış, bütün tersanelerine girilmiş, bütün haberleşmesine el konulmuş ve dört bir yanı bilfiil işgal edilmiş" Anadolu'nun bağrında, yokluk ve yoksulluk içinde, neredeyse sıfırdan bir ordu kurarak İngilizi,Fransızı, İtalyanı ve onların maşası durumundaki Yunanı, Anadolu yaylasına gömmüştür. Bunun adı, neresinden bakılırsa bakılsın, dünyadaki ilk antiemperyalist zaferdir.

“Mustafa Kemal'in Askerleriyiz
Mustafa Kemal'in askerleriyiz.
Hiç düşündünüz mü...
Nereden çıktı bu slogan?
İlk kim söyledi?
Sene 2006.
Aylardan Haziran.
Yer, Danıştay.
Mustaf Kemal'in doğumunun 125'inci yılı dolayısıyla konferans düzenleniyor, ayakta alkışlanan konuşmacı anlatıyor: "Atatürk Türkiyesi'nden rahatsız olanların yapması gereken, atatürk'ü unutturmaktı. Onu yapıyorlar.Cumhuriyet'ın nasıl kurulduğunu, milli mücadeleyi çocuklarımıza iyi anlatmak zorundayız. 1948'den beri Mustafa Kemal'in askeriyim, terhis olmak istemiyorum".
Turgut Özakman'dı o.
Mucidi odur.
Peki, 1948'den beri askeriyim diyen, terhis olmak istemiyorum diyen Turgut Özakman, 1948'de yedek subay falan mıdır? Alakası yoktur.
İçinde "asker" kelimesi geçiyor ya. Dincileri-liboşları boşverdim, bazı CHP yöneticileri bile bu sloganı "militarist" zannediyor. Halbuki, tam tersine, sivil'dir, hukuki'dir.
Cumhuriyet tarihinin en çarpıcı sloganı Mustafa Kemal'in askerleriyiz. Cumhuriyet tarihinin en çarpıcı kitabı Şu Çılgın Türkler'in özetidir. Terhis olmak istemiyorumdan kastı ise, bıkmadan usanmadan, anlatmaya devam etme azmidir.
"Hakikate ihanet etmeyelim" derdi.

“Mustafa Kemal was open about his ideas, his ambitions and his habits. He was also meticulous both in his staff work and in his dress. But the early years of revolutionary plotting revealed another side to his character. When he was not on top, he was critical of those who were. He alone deserved to be leader.”

“Mustafa Kemal yüksekçe bir yere yürüdü. Durdu..
'Allah Allah Allah Allah Allah...”

“Mustafa Kemal's government was certainly authoritarian, but he had a saying which is profoundly true, I don't remember the exact words, but what he said was that I am a dictator so that there will never again be a dictator in Turkey, and I think that was right. He felt that there were certain changes which needed to be made. He wanted to make those changes, he felt they were essential.”

“Mustang...' I rest my hand on her wrist. Despite her strength, it's frail in my hands. Frail as the other girl's was when I held her in the deepmines. I couldn't help that girl. And now I feel like I can't help this woman. Would that my hands were meant to build. I would know what to say. What to do. Maybe in another life I would have been that man. In this one, my words, like my hands, are clumsy. All they can do is cut. All they can do is break.”
