A strah je u Bosni stalno priutan, poput bolesti koja se načas smiri, pa se ponovno razbukta. Uvijek je tu, zakopan plitko ispod kože, i samo se treba naći onaj koji će zagrebati ispod nje i tako ga potaknuti. Uvijek je strah glavni pokretač tih ljudi, ali ni u jednom trenutku ne smije se zanemariti njihovo sjećanje, iskrivljeno i selektivno, iz kojeg se onda rađa strah. Svi se sjećaju vlastitih nesreća i patnji, a zlo koje oni čine drugima, učas zaborave. Na njega ne ostane ni spomena. Zato ga ovi drugi pamte, dugo i ustrajno. Mržnja je, dakle, samo instrument straha, koja prestaje onog trena kad ne postiji razlog za njega.”

Las expectativas de los docentes suelen estar influenciadas por el origen social de sus alumnos y pueden condicionar no sólo lo que el docente haga con ellos sino en la opinión que el propio alumno se forma de sí mismo.
Cuando un alumno se percibe como hábil, estará más estimulado y sus esfuerzos serán mayores. Las bajas expectativas son producto de una autopercepción negativa respecto de sus habilidades y saberes adquiridos. La falta de confianza en sí mismo afecta la autoestima y termina por condicionar las posibilidades de aprender.
Para los docentes, el permanente análisis y develamiento de las posiciones sobre este problema junto a otros colegas y actores del sistema educativo se convierte en un paso necesario para reflexionar y consolidar estrategias pedagógicas que apunten a retener a los alumnos.”
