“Men: don't wear the untucked shirttail. It cuts you in half, which is a very bad proportion. Think of yourself as a series of thirds. So when the shirt is tucked in, you're 1/3 on top, 2/3 on the bottom.”
“Men: Stand in solidarity with women. Women, if you were born female, you were born on a battlefield. You will be punished for even saying that out loud, but the grim truth is you're going to be punished no matter what for the 'sin' of being female. Battering is the most commonly committed violent crime in the United States. That's a man beating a woman. Globally, half of all women will experience life-threatening violence from a man. Half. That's more hatred than I can comprehend. Right now, that battlefield is such a slaughter that we can't even collect our wounded.”
“Men? Sure, I've known lots of them. But I never found one I liked well enough to marry. Besides, I've always been busy with my work. Marriage is a career in itself and to make a success of it you've got to keep working at it. So until I can give the.”

Or demons.”

“Mena wondered if her grandmother, the djinn, had ever thought of reshaping the world so it was more amenable to her. A world of hot wind and bursting stars, where women walked strong and brown and proud over land that sang to their bones, where the fires that burned in their veins were lights in the firmament and not threats to be smothered into nothingness at all costs.”

“Menaced by collectivist trends, we must seek revival of our strength in the spiritual foundations which are the bedrock of our republic. Democracy is the outgrowth of the religious conviction of the sacredness of every human life. On the religious side, its highest embodiment is the Bible; on the political side, the Constitution.”

“Mencheres dropped his hands from my shoulders. “You know that’s what he wants. He’ll want to trade, you for her.” “Then I’ll do it,” I said. Bones’s grip on me turned to steel. “No, you won’t.”
“Mencheres slid through the water toward her, drawn by the same inexorable compulsion that led moths to dance with flames. He'd had several lifetimes' worth of reason, cold machinations, and, ultimately, emptiness. Perhaps the moths knew what he didn't, that the joy of the flame was worth the price of destruction.”
“Mencheres. Bones co-ruler, grandsire, Master vampire of incredible power, and the ally who unnerved me the most, had telekinetically held me down so Bones could boink me into submission enroute to the vampire holding cell? Sweet holy Jesus, let me have hallucinated hearing that!”

“Mencius said: “In good years, young men are mostly fine. In bad years, they’re mostly cruel and violent. It isn’t that Heaven endows them with such different capacities, only that their hearts are mired in such different situations. Think about barley: if you plant the seeds carefully at the same time and in same place, they’ll all sprout and grow ripe by summer solstice. If they don’t grow the same – it’s because of inequities in richness of soil, amounts of rainfall, or the care given them by farmers. And so, all members belonging to a given species of thing are the same. Why should humans be the lone exception? The sage and I – surely we belong to the same species of thing.
“That’s why Master Lung said: Even if a cobbler makes a pair of sandals for feet he’s never seen, he certainly won’t make a pair of baskets. Sandals are all alike because feet are the same throughout all beneath Heaven. And all tongues savor the same flavors. Yi Ya was just the first to discover what our tongues savor. If taste differed by nature from person to person, the way horses and dogs differ by species from me, then how is it people throughout all beneath Heaven savor the tastes Yi Ya savored? People throughout all beneath Heaven share Yi Ya’s tastes, therefore people’s tongues are alike throughout all beneath Heaven.
“It’s true for the ear too: people throughout all beneath Heaven share Maestro K’uang’s sense of music, therefore people’s ears are alike thoughout all beneath Heaven. And it’s no less true for the eye: no one throughout all beneath Heaven could fail to see the beauty of Lord Tu. If you can’t see his beauty, you simply haven’t eyes. “Hence it is said: All tongues savor the same flavors, all ears hear the same music, and all eyes see the same beauty. Why should the heart alone not be alike in us all? But what is it about our hearts that is alike? Isn’t it what we call reason and Duty? The sage is just the first to discover what is common to our hearts. Hence, reason and Duty please our hearts just like meat pleases our tongues.”

“Mencius said that human nature is good. I disagree with that.”
“Mencoba kembali ke masa lalu itu seperti mencari kembali setiap kepingan piringan yang kumuh, tersebar di setiap sudut gudang, berdebu, berhias bangkai kecoa dan kotoran cicak. Setelah dikumpulkan, diputar, keluar asap, semakin tebal, meledak, terbakar, hilang, sia-sia.”

“Mendanbar took a deep breath. “You could stay here. At the castle, I mean. With me.” This wasn’t coming out at all the way he had wanted it to, but it was too late to stop now. He hurried on, “As Queen of the Enchanted Forest, if you think you would like that. I would.”
“Would you, really?”
“Yes,” Mendanbar said, looking down. “I love you, and—and—”
“And you should have said that to begin with,” Cimorene interrupted, putting her arms around him.
Mendanbar looked up, and the expression on her face made his heart begin to pound.
“Just to be sure I have this right,” Cimorene went on with a blinding smile, “did you just ask me to marry you?”
“Yes,” Mendanbar said. “At least, that’s what I meant.”
“Good. I will.”
Mendanbar tried to find something to say, but he was too happy to think. He leaned forward two inches and kissed Cimorene, and discovered that he didn’t need to say anything at all.”

“Mendapatkan nilai yang tak sempurna kesekian kalinya... Tersadar sejenak memang benar segala sesuatunya ada di tanganmu. Kamu yang menetukan, ini mungkin suatu pelajaran kecil yang bermakna besar dikemudian hari jika kamu kembali mengulanginya... Give ur best qyqy please. ..”
“Mendedah Realitas // Versi Ironis–Tragis–Nihilistik
seolah kesunyian punya moralitasnya sendiri.
Ketika kita membukanya,
kita menemukan sesuatu yang lebih menyakitkan
dari rahasia apa pun—
bukan makna, tapi ketiadaan makna
Namun ia sendiri pun terperosok
ke dalam jurang kata-kata
yang ia ciptakan untuk membebaskan diri.
Agustinus menjawab dengan getir,
seperti seseorang yang terlalu lama menyesali masa mudanya:
“Yang nyata hanyalah yang ditopang iman keyakinan.”
Tapi ia pun gemetar
ketika malam terlalu sunyi
dan doanya memantul kembali
tanpa jawaban.
Zen Buddhis tertawa pelan,
bukan karena ia menemukan pencerahan,
tapi karena ia tahu
bahwa pertanyaan semacam itu
selalu kalah oleh kekosongan.
“Realitas hanyalah bayangan pikiran.”
Namun pikiran—
adalah tempat pertama
di mana semua luka tumbuh.
Dan kita?
Kita hanya duduk di antara mereka
seperti anak terlambat belajar
bukan cahaya,
bukan kebenaran,
tetapi lapisan-lapisan ironi tragis
yang menertawakan keinginan kita sendiri
untuk mengerti sesuatu
yang bahkan tidak memiliki pusat gravitasi.
Barangkali realitas
adalah semacam pembusukan yang berlangsung teramat lambat—
kita mengendus aromanya,
berpura-pura itu adalah parfum filsafat.
Atau mungkin ia hanya cermin
yang memantulkan wajah kita
yang lelah,
yang pucat oleh harapan,
yang terjerat antara ingin percaya
dan ingin berhenti peduli sama sekali.
Zen berkata: lepaskan.
Nietzsche berkata: tumbuhkan kehendak.
Agustinus berkata: bertobatlah.
Skeptisisme modern berkata:
klik refresh dan lanjutkan hidup.
Namun malam tetap datang
dengan kesenyapan yang tak bisa kita tawar.
Ia membongkar pikiran kita tanpa belas kasihan,
meninggalkan sisa diri yang tak lagi padat,
tak lagi utuh,
sekadar debu yang tahu
bahwa keberadaannya pun
hanya sementara.
Pada akhirnya,
mendedah realitas
bukan tentang menemukan apa atau siapa.
Ini adalah latihan kehilangan:
kehilangan jawaban,
kehilangan harapan,
kehilangan tumpuan
yang selama ini kita yakini sebagai fondasi.
Dan dari kehilangan itu
muncul sejenis ketenangan muram—
seperti lampu jalan
yang terus menyala di jalan terpencil,
meski tak ada seorang pun
yang benar-benar membutuhkannya.

“Mendel had a remarkable nature as a boy. I’m not talking about miracles. Miracles are a burden for a tzaddik, not the proof of one. Miracles prove nothing except to those whose faith is bought very cheap, sir. There was something in Mendele. There was a fire.”

“Mendeleev, unlike the squeamish Meyer, had balls enough to predict that new elements would be dug up. Look harder, you chemists and geologists, he seemed to taunt, and you’ll find them.”
“Mendelevium was discovered and named during the Cold War era so the scientists who discovered it had to convince the U.S. government to allow their proposal to name the element for Dmitri Mendeleev, who was a Russian scientist. Since he was known as the father of the periodic table, the International Union of Pure & Applied Chemistry approved the use of his name for element 101.”
