“Sirens blasted, breaking the silence and spinning me around. The shrill sound was all too familiar, and I snapped into action. Vicious excitement replaced the restlessness, and I knew just how screwed up that was, but right then? Oh yeah, I could use a fight. Yesterday in the quad had been child’s play.
Grabbing the Glock loaded with titanium bullets, I hooked it into the holster and fit it around my thigh. I snatched the daggers off the dresser and headed out the door, not even bothering with grabbing a shirt.
I came to a complete stop as Josie’s door swung open.
What in the holy fuck were Alex and Josie doing together? For just a few seconds, the three of us were literally frozen, staring at each other as the sirens blared overhead.
And then Alex broke the silence.
“Really?” she said dryly, eyeing me with a smirk. “You’re going to fight with the awesomeness of your six-pack as a weapon?”
I arched a brow. “Yeah, you know, I was going to test out the whole abs of steel theory thing. The gun attached to my thigh and the daggers in my hands are just props. Mainly for show. Don’t want to take away from the gloriousness that is my body, though.”
Her smirk flipped into a grin. “Whatever.” She started forward. Up ahead, a tall figure stepped out in the hall, and light glinted off the titanium daggers in his hands. Aiden. Of course their room had to be close to mine.
Of. Course.”

“Siri kubwa ya utajiri kuliko zote duniani ni mawazo yako.”
“Siri's dream world had always been bizarre. In his childhood, the images that lurked there constantly interrupted his sleep. The same woman who raised him would come to his bed and remind him that these were his dreams inside his head, and nobody had more right to be in there than he. He learned how to walk tall through his nightmares and not be afraid of what happened there.”

Amka uishi.”
“Siri ya utajiri ni mawazo ya mtu. Maisha unayoishi uliyataka mwenyewe. Amka uishi. Hii ndiyo siri kubwa ya utajiri kuliko zote ulimwenguni. Ukifikiria chanya maisha yako yatakuwa chanya, ukifikiria hasi maisha yako yatakuwa hasi. Unachofikiria ndicho unachokuwa. Siri ya mafanikio yako ni jumla ya mambo unayoyawaza.”
“Sirine buys sweet, dense Mexican candies, pastel-colored Korean candies, crackling layers of tea leaves, lemongrass, kaffir leaves, Chinese medicinal herbs and powders, Japanese ointments and pastes. She tastes everything edible, studies the new flavors, tests the shock of them; and she learns, every time she tastes, about balance and composition, addition and subtraction.”

“Sirine finishes deskewering six plates of lamb shish kabobs and three plates of chicken, drizzling oil over ground beef and hummus, over smoky puréed eggplant, over a bowl of olives, and splashing four tabbouleh salads with lemon.”

“Sirine learned about food from her parents. Even though her mother was American, her father always said his wife thought about food like an Arab. Sirine's mother strained the salted yogurt through cheesecloth to make creamy labneh, stirred the onion and lentils together in a heavy iron pan to make mjeddrah, and studded joints of lamb with fat cloves of garlic to make roasted kharuf. Sirine's earliest memory was of sitting on a phone book on a kitchen chair, the sour-tart smell of pickled grape leaves in the air. Her mother spread the leaves flat on the table like little floating hands, placed the spoonful of rice and meat at the center of each one, and Sirine with her tiny fingers rolled the leaves up tighter and neater than anyone else could- tender, garlicky, meaty packages that burst in the mouth.”

“Sirine puts a forkful of sweet potatoes into her mouth. The potatoes are soft as velvet, the gravy satiny. It is as if she can taste the life inside all those ingredients: the stem that the cranberries grew on, the earth inside the bread, even the warm blood inside the turkey. It comes back to her, the small secret that was always hers, for years, the only truth she seemed to possess- that food was better than love: surer, truer, more satisfying and enriching. As long as she could lose herself in the rhythms of peeling an onion, she was complete and whole. And as long as she could cook, she would be loved.”

“Sirine smiles back and asks what he would like to have for breakfast. He yawns and sits up, and asks almost timidly, "I don't suppose you could make some more of that frekeh?"
The dish of smoked wheat kernels with olive oil and garlic. She sits still, the sunlight from the balcony skimming through the bedroom. There are bags and bags of frekeh at her uncle's house, pounds of it at the café, even the Indian market a few blocks away from Han's apartment sells it in bulk. But she takes a breath and frowns and says, "I'm not sure if I can find any more right now."
She tells Han to sleep a little longer and she walks down to the Indian market by herself. But when she comes back with her groceries she doesn't have frekeh. She makes scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. She stirs dollops of heavy cream and cheese into the eggs, letting the bacon grease soak into the egg, slicing squares of buttered toast in half, filling the glasses with orange juice. She serves this to Han while he's still in bed and he smiles and eats it and doesn't say anything more about frekeh.”

“Sirius had the relaxed, confident demeanor Seatticans were known for...and an overall likable disposition. If you weren't being forced to marry him, that is.”
Source: Domna, Part One: The Sun God's Daughter
“Sirius is the Hidden God or "the sun behind the sun". As the moon reflects the sun, so does the sun reflect Sirius. This concept was expressed in The Book of the Law when Crowley wrote "The Khabs is in the Khu, not the Khu is in the Khabs." The word Khab means star while Khu refers to light. What is being taught here is that collective "wisdom" often assumes that the stars emanate light. The truth of the matter is that the stars are in the light and are merely reflecting it.”
“Sirius is well acquainted with what James’s voice sounds like when he cries. Choked and thin. It’s a sound that could call Sirius from a mile away—tell him he was needed. That someone was going to die because, as far as he’s concerned, no one makes James Potter cry and gets away with it.”

“Sirius looked about as intelligent as the temple cats who liked to chase their own tails.”

“Sirius looked slightly disconcerted for a moment, then said, "I'll look for him later, I expect I'll find him upstairs crying his eyes out over my mother's old bloomers or something... Of course, he might have crawled into the airing cupboard and died... But I mustn't get my hopes up.”
“Sirius once said that the muggles had a saying, learnt it from Potter’s girl. He told me that his mother was making a mistake because, ‘history doesn’t repeat itself, fools repeat history.”

“Sirius Sojourn by Stewart Stafford
Cottage in an aromatic meadow,
Summer's languid haze hanging,
The old windmill's sundial stilled,
Chirping birds and insect drones.
Flowing brooks at a funereal pace,
A bloated lull duels exiguous energy,
Thick air's blanketing somnolence,
Liquid refreshment soothes inertia.
Salmon sundown slithers to a siesta,
In a clear purple sky nodding assent,
The intense day imperceptibly eased,
As the night's humid embrace begins.

“Sirius — it’s me . . . it’s Peter . . . your friend . . . you wouldn’t . . .” Black kicked out and Pettigrew recoiled. “There’s enough filth on my robes without you touching them,” said Black.”
“Sirius's gaunt face broke out into the first true smile Harry had seen upon it. The difference it made was startling, as though a person ten years younger were shining through the starved mask; for a moment he was recognizable as the man who had laughed at Harry's parents' wedding.”
“Sirius, the brightest star in the heavens.... My grandfather would say we're part of something incredibly wonderful - more marvelous than we imagine. My grandfather would say we ought to go out and look at it once in a while so we don't lose our place in it.”

“Sirk was every womans dream of a director.”
“Sirrah, thou art a coarse and rough-hewn fellow but i fain noteth thy first name Stewart bears a pleasing w'rding and, thus, lurks a grise of gentle spirit about thy p'rson. Bemock all Stuarts and maketh this keeper of the estate our w'rthy guardian!”
“Sirs, if it were not for that one red spot I would have conquered the world!!!”
“Sirs, up and be doing. Press toward the mark. Add to your faith, virtue; to virtue, knowledge; to knowledge, temperance; to temperance, patience; to patience, godliness, that you be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Be you therefore steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of our Lord. And if you do these things, you will never fall (1 Cor. 15:58; 2 Peter 1:5-8, 10).”

“Sirs, I have tested your machine. It adds a new terror to life and makes death a long-felt want.”
“Sirs, you are doubtlessly intelligent people, however, I have a problem understanding how you found a place in prophecy for those I know to be void of a even a single drop of Hebrew blood - without any cultural or historical ties to the Holy Land and in fact simple converts to a base form of Judaism. Clinton eulogized Rabinowitz (Yitzhak Rabin) as a son of David and a son of Solomon. You must know that this man was a Khazar of Turko- Mongolian lineage, and can in no way represent a 'return' since his southern Russian ancestors never made it down to Palestine until 1948.”
“Sirsasana the king of all asanas and the reasons are not hard to find.”
“Siry answered with one simple, shattering word. "Veelox.”

“Sis, gizemli değildir; o, gizemin bizzat kendisidir!”
“Sis her şeyi örtebilir, kendisi hariç her şeyi!”
“Sis, here’s a gentle reminder to take time out for yourself. As Black women, we’re always doing something, but I encourage you to give yourself permission to simply rest. Calm your thoughts, allow your soul to breathe, eat nourishing foods that fuel your body, and drink healthy smoothies, teas, and water to nourish your cells. Do the small things that bring you relaxation, peace, and joy.”
“Sis neden böyle davranır, ne sorunu var bu gizemli yaratığın? Neden her şeyi görünmez kılmak istiyor? Belki de bize bir şey anlatmaya çalışıyordur: Hey sen, insanoğlu, kendini güçlü sanıyorsun ama saniyeler içinde ortadan yok olabilirsin!”
